Edinburgh Elopement: Alyssa + Becca’s Bookstore wedding

Alyssa and Becca took the leap with our local community of elopement suppliers and gave it a good old twist by hosting their delicious tiny ceremony afront the canary yellow shelves of Stockbridge’s book haven, Rare Birds. Scotland's only bookshop dedicated entirely to women's writing.

Florals, cake, photography and a couple of nights bed and breakfast at The Chaumer were taken care of as part of their day. Sadly, The Chaumer tearoom has since closed.

Thanks again to Alyssa and Becca for choosing The Elopement Society, it means so much to see couples embracing what we do and trusting their instincts. Anyway, ‘nuff about that… here are some highlights from their day.

Before

After getting wedding ready, Alyssa and Becca and their two guests took a wander through the New Town, toward Stockbridge where they met their chosen celebrant, Mo from Fuze Ceremonies who is always a joy to work with.

The Ceremony

There’s something wholesome and intrinsically calming about a bookshop, don’t you think? My heart rate finds its lost melody of zen as soon as I step over the threshold. And there lies a bonus for people who choose a bookshop as a venue, I’d say.

After a warm welcome from the Rare Bird staff, Alyssa and Becca shared their vows with one another and it was magic. Shout out to the happy voyeur who spotted the event from the street.

Lil (interesting?) segway: I photographed the wedding of the original Rare Bird, Rachel to MJ last year at Leuchie Walled Garden. A great day worth checking out.

Introducing The Newlyweds

Alyssa and Becca took a stroll back to the New Town along the Water of Leith. We’re totally spoilt in Edinburgh with so many stunning vistas/cobbly streets/benches for two/soggy but V gorg underbridges/curious vennels to enjoy. And this wee walk has the best of them.

The Elopement Society

The joy of elopement is the unknown. Creating memories shared by only a few close compadres. The Elopement Society specialises in designing celebrations with you in mind.
