Edinburgh Elopement: Dana + Aidan’s Opulent Elopement
Dana and Aidan stayed in the city centre for their special day. Designed around a stay in the sadly now defunct The Chaumer's decadent Abide suite in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. It includes everything you need to enjoy a very special few days; florals, cake and photography.
The Elopement Society inspires and empowers couples to create wedding days that escape tradition. A creative, collaborative community based in Edinburgh, we pride ourselves on planning, styling and capturing truly unique weddings and elopements for creative couples across the east coast of Scotland.
Thanks to Dana and Aidan for letting us me part of their city elopement. I love seeing how each couple make my ideas their own. Here are some highlights from their day.
Getting Ready
The Chaumer was a stunning little tearoom on Queen Street in Edinburgh’s New Town. An idyllic and intimate base for a glorious day with loved ones. It also sported a secret suite, Abide which offers tranquility and comfort in oodles which is always welcome when preparing for a ceremony. As we lose little independent places around town it’s just a reminder of why we started working on building this community of suppliers, to encourage elopers to invest in small and independent spaces and creatives on their special day, so the spirit behind this beautiful happy day lives on.
The Ceremony
While some couples choose to explore alternative locations for their ceremony, Dana and Aidan kept it close and opted to walk the aisle in The Chaumer itself. It is the most lovely space with great light and interesting decor and makes for smooth transitioning into the food/cake/champagne activities which is always a good idea.
Introducing Mr & Mrs
It’s such an honour to take the first pictures of a couple after they’ve made it official. It was a dry day in the city (praise be) so while the newlyweds took a stroll round the New Town and into Princes Street Gardens, I stealthed it along with my camera to capture them in some quiet and blissful moments. Lovely.
