I’m Solen, a female Edinburgh wedding photographer with over 12 years of full-time experience, specialising in documentary wedding photography, intimate weddings and elopements across Scotland, alongside editorial portraiture and creative brand photography.

I work with camera-shy couples, artists, independent businesses and culturally engaged clients who value authenticity, local connection and thoughtful visual storytelling.

I’m a proud LGBTQ+ ally, a member of Rebel Love Directory alongside Junebug Weddings, Love My Dress and Scottish Wedding Unconvention.

My experience across weddings, portraiture and brand collaborations allows each area to inform the other, bringing a relaxed, editorial approach to people-focused photography whether it’s a celebration, a personal portrait or a brand narrative. My mix of areas of photography also allows for me to work with clients multiple times on different projects which I always relish.

My photographs are colourful, natural, bright and celebratory, inspired by the tones of the beach by my home, with vibrant and emotive black and white images, inspired by the rhythms of working in Leith. I love the romance and alchemy of shooting textural work on film. My photographic style is relaxed, unobtrusive and authentic.

Alongside commissioned work, I maintain an active visual art practice from my Leith studio, where analogue photography, cyanotype and mixed media projects continue to shape my creative perspective and exhibition pieces. With my art projects I’m a member of Neuk Collective and Visual Arts Scotland.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. A huge number of my clients tell me they feel uncomfortable being photographed — whether it’s for their wedding, an elopement, or a branding session. The good news is this: feeling awkward at first doesn’t mean your photos won’t be beautiful.
