WHAT’S THE ELOPEMENT SOCIETY?

It’s my brainchild from lockdown. I started freaking out about losing spaces that are important in our communities and wanted to further help couples. So I started to build a community of contacts -independent local creatives and small brands with a strong sustainability focus, here to create unique & relaxed celebrations which tell the story of what brought you to this point together.

A kinda secret society for illicit romance.

We help build elopements and tiny neighbourhood weddings in Edinburgh and East Lothian. We offer Edinburgh elopement packages with a bespoke, creative and stress free service at affordable pricing, with elopements from £3000.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

If you’d love to elope or get married in Scotland but hiking up a freezing mountain in the rain or getting eaten alive by midgies isn’t your vibe then maybe I can help. There are areas way closer to the capital with better infrastructure to support outdoor ceremonies and with all sorts of unique spaces to use for indoor ones.

There’s a pre-conceived idea of what elopements in Scotland look and feel like, just like everyone has a traditional idea of what wedding means. We ditch all that and create a day that’s unique and personal.

The beauty of getting married in Scotland is that you can hold your ceremony anywhere so long as you have permission from the landowner. At any time of day. For any couple of consenting adults. With a licensed officiant who doesn’t have to be from the council or a religious organisation. A legally binding non-religious ceremony is the norm here. We have several national celebrant and officiant organisations and many independents who can help you build a legal or token ceremony.

I use my 10+ years in the trade, my knowledge of great local creatives and wee indie brands from my other commercial photography work, my experience of working in events and combine it all to offer elopement and wedding design assistance. Bespoke or we have a couple of packages that we can use as a base to get started.

For couples coming to Scotland, we’ll make sure you see all the ancient gothic romance Edinburgh is loved for but also treat you like a welcome pal and introduce you to all the places us locals love to hang out and celebrate in.
