Edinburgh Elopement : Kenny & Logan

Ok so not totally an elopement but these two had a wee wedding day in Edinburgh before celebrating with a party a month later at home in Liverpool.

It was a treat to work with them, I photographed the day and hooked them up with their celebrant, florist, wedding meal venue (and skittles to keep everyone entertained) and made a few recommedations for other spaces and people to visit.

Their wee wedding day features in the current issue of Tie the Knot Scotland magazine (thanks for the feature) where you can read about why they chose a tiny wedding day and what brought them to Edinburgh.

It rained big time all day but luckily Botanics had a back up plan for the ceremony location and we managed to get a little break in the rain for some photos at a couple of spots we’d wanted to use. We’d first chatted about having the ceremony at the lochside up Arthur Seat or at Duddingston by the water but they didn’t really click with the spaces and as there’s restrictions on vehicle access up Arthur Seat on some days it would have been a bit tricky to get the guests there so went for the Botanics instead and I’m really glad they did as we had the cutest moment with some nosy squirrels as they sneaked a little first dance at the chinese pavillion. Felt well Disney.

Kenny and Logan included some ceremonial details like a handfasting, drinking from the quiach and they had all their guests help to pour coloured sands into a bottle as a keepsake. Their celebrant was the brilliant Candice from the Humanist Society of Scotland. Their buttonholes and floral corsages for them and their guests were from Ochre Botanical Studios.

I love shooting small celebrations like this, the couples always get a chance to relax into it all a bit more (nervous energy aside) and just be themselves with their closest people instead of worrying about entertaining lots of folks and keeping to times and all the things that come with a bigger scale wedding day.
