September has been intense and brilliant mostly. Wrote a thing here about the exhibitions and the news, the pros and cons..

If you missed it, I had 2 big for me exhibitions - I opened up my flat for Art Walk Portobello and I organised and curated a group show for over 20 artists, amkers and art therapy groups at my studio, Out of the Blue Drill Hall. We also had an opening night and a performer & woven whisky showcase event. Juggling getting these set up with a friend staying and a kid off sick from school along with keeping up with the day job was an AuDHD dream, so many side quests.

The month comes to a close with a return visit to Away Industries in Leith, a great space to shoot in. This time shooting a brand refresh bunch of portraits for photographer pal Loraine Ross. We first met when she was a young thing and I wasn’t this age at Cabaret Voltaire. She’d come and photograph lots of my gigs. I was always jealous of the photographers at my shows as I couldn’t get my head around manual settings on cameras. It was when I moved to Live Music Manager at Electric Circus and my boss made some dodgy decisions that gave me the kick in the ass to realise I wouldn’t be there too long and should learn how to take photos properly. Loraine has come to second shoot at a heap of weddings for me too before Covid changed the way I work so it was a treat to collaborate with her again.

October brings Samhain and turning to sacrificing things that no longer work, making new rituals and routines. I’m doing some workshops with the wonder Briana Pegado around Making Good Trouble. I’ve also been invited along to an event by Lynette Gray around the Power of Vulnerability, all of which is right up my street. I’m continuing with my creative coven doing the Artists’ Way and have some fun with far flung pals plotted. I’ll be turning my hand to a bit of life modelling for my lush neighbour Felicity Inkpen too at an illustration workshop she’s running at Drill Hall.

No exhibitions planned for next month but might do a wee online sale of a few prints from the last 2 shows.There’s a little time for collaborations if anyone is after some portraits just holler.
