HOME: A RESIDENTS’ SHOWCASE

Delighted and wee bit daunted to be organising and curating the next resident exhibition at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations.

HOME: A RESIDENTS’ SHOWCASE

The day after I moved in last summer was the instal for the first group show I took part in. I was so overwhelmed and intimated I didn’t stand next to my work or speak to anyone about it. My son kept coming over to tell me folks really liked my work and I should chat to them! Here we are a year later and I’m all in for this one, although it’s at the exact same time as I’m also exhibiting for Art Walk Porty so who knows which bits of my work will make it here as it’s all plastered all over my flat…

We’ve some fun ideas for this one. It won’t look like a typical exhibition, hopefully you’'ll come along and feel right at at home in our home from home…take a seat in the living-room, have a read of some work or sun yourself by our print shop shed. There’s over 20 resident artists, makers and art therapy groups taking part, a real mix of painting, illustration, photography, printed works, riso, jewellery, glasswork and more.

The exhibition runs 10th - 20th September, 10am-5pm (closed Sunday)

And our free evening events to entice you to the afters -

Wednesday 11th, Launch night with in-house DJs and free flowing wine, 6-8pm (just come in for us)

Wednesday 18th, Resident Performers and Woven Whisky Showcase, 6-8pm (free but ticketed, link below)

For this one we’ve got some joyful and mysterious patter from residents and family. Some acoustic music, a wee bit of drama like any good house party and some dancing, of course. Our neighbours, Woven Whisky, are popping round with a tasting of their Leith inspired blend, Homemade, too. Delicious stuff.

We’ve already flogged more tickets for this one than a bunch of the local band nights I used to promote back in the day (might need to scratch that itch) so don’t wait till it’s too late…
